mrbook2 > The original of this image can be found in the Travel Pics album. The lifeboat has been converted to greyscale to better draw out the vivid blue of the ocean. The blue has not been altered in any way (although I think I used a polarizer on this shot.)

mrbook2 > This image has also had the color removed in the same manner as the lifeboat in the previous image. The effect here is a bit more subtile. The original image was a reflection in a green tinted window. All of the colors are a bit washed out, but the photographer has been made greyscale.

mrbook2 > Ah, the long, lonely bench. I greyscaled this one and added noise to make it look more "gritty". I think it could use a little more grit.

mrbook2 > This is my second attempt at the bench picture. I think this one turned out a little better.

mrbook2 > Ok, so this is a series. I took this original color picture and wanted to make a black and white with a little bit of zing to it. First I broke it down into the seperate RGB color chanels.

mrbook2 > Here is the blue channel. I kept the building for the final.

mrbook2 > Here is the red channel. I took the sky and the street sign for the final.

mrbook2 > Here is the final image, after making heavy use of the layer channel in the GIMP.

mrbook2 > This image was a pretty strong image before I did any editing. I had to rotate it counterclockwise by 0.5 degrees to make the horizon straight. It was taken from the deck of a moving ship, so I don't feel too bad about that. I then adjusted the color "levels" until it had that nice zing. I am pretty happy with the results. This doesn't really need to be in the digital edits section, but I put it here to show what just a little nudge can do for a photo.
